The Humanist Handbook is dedicated to empowering individuals to lead happy and healthy lives informed by humanist values at the personal, family, and community levels. Why? Because we believe that the world deserves a reason and science based guide to living and community organizing that is easily updated with new information, lends itself to collaboration, and is available to all.
We aim to accomplish this by providing three things:
- Free Resources
- Premium Courses
- Products & Services
Our Free Resources
On our blog we publish free articles and guides that aim to cover the fundamentals of humanism, personal development, and community organizing. We also take submissions and conduct interviews with humanists around the world in order to provide a wide range of perspective and experience.
We’re also launching two free courses in 2020 to display the quality folks can expect of our premium courses while they’re in production.
Our Premium Courses
Our premium courses (currently in production) are designed to provide in-depth and easy to understand insight and guidance on some of the biggest challenges humanist individuals and organizations face.
Our Products & Services
Our products and services (currently in development) are designed to do two things. To compliment our content with useful resources and to provide valuable and potentially difficult to come by things (such as websites, teaching materials, or a Humanist Celebrant/Chaplain) in an affordable and efficient manner for anyone who needs them.
Meet the Team
Nathan B. Weller – Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Nathan B. Weller is a content creation and marketing specialist with over 12 years of experience writing for and managing world class blogs. He has also served for 5 years on the board of the Humanist Community of Central Ohio (2016-2020).
In 2020 he founded the Humanist Handbook to combine his professional experience with his local humanist community building experience–extending the best resources he could create to anyone who needs them.
Karla Norquist – Researcher
Karla Norquist was a board member of the Humanist Community of Central Ohio from 2018-2019. During her two years on the board she worked with Nathan to identify, co-create, and test resources that that community continues to use today. And which we’ve recreated for the Humanist Handbook.
Currently, her primary contribution to this project is the regular use of our personal budget template, providing important feedback for ongoing improvement.
